South Leinster Junior Hurling B Championship Round 2

Wexford CBS...............0-9         Enniscorthy CBS................7-12

Believe it or not but after 28 minutes, the score was 0-7 to 0-6 in favour of Enniscorthy CBS in Pairc Charman last Tuesday as Wexford CBS were well in the game. However, the visitors pounced on defensive errors and hit 2-1 in the final two minutes of the half to retire with an eight point lead (2-8 to 0-6).
Wexford CBS never recovered from these hammer blows and registered just three second half points while their opponents struck for five goals to put a rather lopsided look on the score.
However, there can be no doubt as to who the better team was as the home side never really threatened to score a goal and relied on placed balls for frees.
Liam Rockett gave Jack Murphy a delightful pass over his shoulder for the latter to give Wexford CBS an early lead but the Enniscorthy lads rifled over the next two points before Shane McGrath was fouled and Stephen Kearney converted his first free to level the match.
Two further Stephen Kearney frees ensured the game was even at 0-4 after 15 minutes and the ding-dong nature of the game continued right up until half-time when Enniscorthy struck for their 2-1.
Wexford CBS couldn’t muster the fight back required and instead it was the visitors who pulled away with goals coming regularly throughout the second half.
Ciaran Kirwan’s ’65 and frees from Stephen Kearney were all Wexford CBS could reply with and it was Enniscorthy who registered the win which qualifies them from the group in second place.
