First Year Football League

The annual Wexford CBS First Year Football League concluded in a welter of excitement recently with the first ever replayed final when Wexford and Kerry couldn’t be separated in the final proper.
However it was Wexford, led by their captain Kallum Broaders, who eventually ran out winners of the tournament overcoming Kerry in the replay by 2-4 to 1-1.
The drawn final ended on a scoreline of Wexford 0-7 to Kerry 1-4 and was evenly contested throughout. In the replay, Wexford did the damage in the first half with important goals from Kallum Broaders and Tre Long which gave them a half-time lead of 2-3 to 1-1. Try as they might all during the second half, Kerry just couldn’t break down a resolute Wexford defence.
The big crowd was well entertained by both sets of players and afterwards match referee and deputy principal Mr. John Hegarty presented Wexford captain Kallum Broaders with the cup and also the man of the match trophy.
