TY Dance
TY had the opportunity to experience some choreography on Friday last. The art of designing movement sequences was a real challenge, but the dance off at the end was a real thriller, as both groups excelled.

Senior Soccer
The Weford CBS senior soccer side began their season with a comprehensive defeat of Enniscorthy Vocational College in Enniscorthy on Thursday the 22nd September, The senior side who are of course, the defending Wiclow/Wexford champions fielded a very strong line up for the first half, while allowing some of the squad players to stake a claim for a place in the second. This season will see Keith Morrissey captain the School’s Senior team and he led by example alongside the excellent Robin Dempsey in midfield. Both Bobby Barnes and Danny Fitzpatrick bagged first half braces as the Wexford boys’ superiority showed
The second half however proved to be more testing though special mention must go to Mark Hayes, Jason Kearns, Ryan Walsh and Shane Murray for their excellent efforts. The loudest cheer of the day was reserved for a super strike from Corey Ennis who volleyed in the game’s fifth and final goal. A long and difficult campaign is ahead but the champions are off to the perfect start

First Year Football Blitz Final
Wexford (UCD)......................... .........4-5
Kerry (UCC)......................... ...............2-2
Wexford came out on tops in the 2011 First Year Football blitz final after this thrilling final played on the school pitch on Thursday September 22nd.
After battling their way to the final following wins against Dublin (TCD) and Kildare (UCG) in the group stages, these sides clashed in a very entertaining game.
Wexford, managed by Wexford senior footballer Mr. Molloy, went in at half-time leading by 2-1 to 1-2 following great scores from Lee Busher and Jack Haughton. Cormac Byrne responded for Kerry to keep them in the match and at only two points behind it was all to play for in the second half.
However Izaac Doyle grabbed a goal which was added to by Lee Busher and try as Kerry might they just couldn’t cut the gap despite a fine goal by Lee Whelan.
Principal Mr. McMahon presented Wexford captain Paul Bailie with the trophy and Lee Busher won the Man of the Match award. Well done to all involved.
Preparations are already underway for the South Leinster Juvenile Football championship and a lot of these players will no doubt feature on the team.

South Leinster Colleges Senior ‘C’ Hurling
Wexford CBS..........5-11
New Ross VC..........3-15
New Ross VC..........3-15
Luke Byrne in action
New Ross VC led at the break by 2-10 to 1-2 and were full value for this lead. Wexford CBS were shocking in that opening half and the game looked well and truly over at half-time.
The away side had three points on the board within minutes of the start and CBS were rocked in the 7th minute when the New Ross lads scored their first goal. It wasn’t until the 14th minute that CBS captain Peter Furlong scored his side’s opening point after a strong run through the middle.
However CBS couldn’t build on it as their opponents were hungrier for the ball and played much better throughout the half. They tagged on another goal after 21 minutes as they opened up a lead of 2-5 to 0-1.
Furlong fed Sean Kearney for a point before the Boker boys got a boost when Eoin Roche placed Graham Murphy with a neat pass and Murphy blasted the ball to the net.
Eleven points was a huge deficit at the break and CBS needed to get some early second half scores to drag themselves back into contention. They were a significant increase in the workrate of all the CBS players and they hunted in packs for the ball which made all the difference.
Evan Dunbar converted two early frees before Conor Howlin pulled the ball to the net and at 2-11 to 2-4 CBS sniffed a chance. However three opportunities for points were squandered in the next few minutes.
The game got really interesting in the 43rd minutes when Eoin Roche drove home the third goal for CBS and Gary Murphy and Sean Kearney flashed over points (2-11 to 3-6). New Ross VC struck back with some points but the CBS lads were relentless now.
Despite carrying a hand injury John Bridges entered the game as a substitute in the final quarter at full-forward and had a huge impact as he finished with four points (two frees). Despite a third goal from the New Ross school, the game was decided by two Graham Murphy goals in the final ten minutes.
The first was a great flick from a Sean Kearney delivery and the second (and Murphy’s third) came after hard-work from Evan Dunbar.
There was even more excitement at the death with the score at 5-11 to 3-14 when New Ross VC were awarded a 21 yard free which went over the bar much to the delight of the CBS players. The final whistle sounded on the puck out.

South Leinster Junior Hurling Colleges ‘C’ Championship:
The Bokerboys in their new jersies sponsored by Kehoe Ceilings.
Wexford CBS.............5-10
New Ross CBS............2-8
Wexford CBS won the battle of the CBSs last Friday when they overcame the challenge of New Ross CBS in O’Kennedy Park in the first round of the South Leinster Junior (under16 ½) Hurling Colleges ‘C’ Championship. Played in glorious weather conditions on a perfect sod, the Boker Boys just had too much firepower for their opponents and ran out comfortable winners in the end.
It was the New Ross lads who started brightest despite playing into the wind as they pointed an early free before scoring a fine goal. However Wexford CBS settled and John Forde grabbed a superb goal when he collected a pass from Joseph McBride before unleashing an unstoppable shot to the net.
Impressive midfielder George Cullen scored a fine point before Rob Donnelly flashed the ball to the net for the Wexford town school to leave the score at 2-1 to 1-1 after eleven minutes.
Wexford CBS began to press home their superiority with Cullen and Ian Moran adding points but New Ross clung in there with trio of points around the quarter hour mark.
John Forde was a constant thorn in New Ross CBS’s side and he scored his second goal just before the break and the sides retired at half-time with the score standing at 3-6 to 1-5.
Hard-working centre-forward Jamie McDonnell broke through for a fine individual goal in the 36th minute which put daylight between the teams and Joseph McBride registered the fifth goal for Wexford CBS following a mazy solo run five minutes later.
New Ross CBS battled hard until the end but couldn’t prevent the Wexford lads running out eleven point winners. Best for Wexford CBS were Ciaran Kirwan, George Cullen, Jamie McDonnell and John Forde.
Wexford CBS: Brad Cohen (St. Martin’s); Ryan D’Arcy (Faythe Harriers), Geroid Finn (St. Anne’s), James Somers (Faythe Harriers); Conor Fenlon (Glynn-Barntown), Ciaran Kirwan (Faythe Harriers), Luke Byrne (Faythe Harriers); Garry Murphy (Faythe Harriers, Capt.), George Cullen (St. John’s, 0-2); Eoin Roche (Faythe Harriers, 0-2), Jamie McDonnell (Faythe Harriers, 1-1), Rob Donnelly (Buffers Alley, 1-1); John Forde (Shelmaliers, 2-0), Ian Moran (Glynn-Barntown (0-3), Joseph McBride (St. John’s, 1-1).
Sub: Adam McDade (Faythe Harriers) for Moran.
