Senior Soccer

Wexford CBS 8-0 Enniscorthy V.C
CBS Seniors bounce back with powerful performance.
The Senior soccer team recovered from their heartbreak to simply destroy Enniscorthy V.C in the opening fixture of the Wicklow/Wexford league. The boys who were bitterly disappointed by their own performance against Borris in the cup looked to set the record straight and leave their opponents in no confusion as to why they are defending champions. CBS took the lead inside five minutes with Darragh Rossiter finding the net after a fine team move. Lee Busher drove forward from midfield and added a second minutes later linking up delightfully with Jesse Farrell and Darragh Rossiter before applying a neat finish to double the advantage. Shane McGrath who scored a hat-trick against Borris added a third soon after with a free kick on the edge of the area. The CBS simply dominated this game and Adam Dempsey in goal had very little to do. Lee Busher made it 4 with another neat finish from a team move, the Bokerboys were playing sensational stuff and were guilty of missing several chances. Half time and 4 up the bokerboys were looking in good shape. The second half began in the same fashion with Darragh Rossiter adding his 2nd and his sides 5th in the opening minute latching onto a fine through ball before smashing an effort just inside the far post from the edge of the area. Dylan Dixon added a 6th soon after himself and Jesse Farrell linking up well, Farrell squared to Dixon who tapped home from 5 yards. Captain, Jesse Farrell, made it 7 shortly after, a good team move put him in possession in the box, he side-stepped one player before firing home. Substitutes were introduced but with no real drop in the level of performance as the CBS simply dominated the game, the boys were guilty however of missing several chances. With ten minutes remaining the CBS added their final goal of the game Liam Rockett whipping in a fierce cross from the left wing which Luke O’Neill tapped home at the far post. 8-0 and in truth it could have been a lot more, the senior team bounced back from disappointment in their opening game and upped their level, which Enniscorthy V.C could not cope with. All members of the team were very impressive on the day; the boy’s face Carnew next Tuesday in the ¼ final of the competition where they will hope to replicate such an impressive display. Tougher tests will lie ahead but this team has the potential to do it again.
