First Year Rugby
Well done to our First Year rugby squad who participated in a Blitz Day in Wexford recently. It was a 7 a side event , so we had two teams. Altogether we played 10 games and won 8. They competed against Wicklow, Tullow and Kilmuckridge.

South Leinster Juvenile Hurling ‘B’ C’ship

The juvenile hurlers of Wexford CBS put in a power packed display to take the spoils of victory in this intriguing clash. There was great excitement at the finish as CBS sneaked into the lead and Gorey fought to take it back before the final whistle sounded.
Gorey were 1-8 to 1-3 ahead at half-time and deservedly so. Very often the CBS defence were under serious pressure to keep out the Gorey attack but somehow they did and it was felt at the break that the game was winnable for CBS.
Eoin Hartigan’s 17th minute kicked goal put CBS back in front by 1-2 to 0-4 but Gorey gradually worked their way back into the match and got a boost when a long ball dipped and went all the way to the net.
However, CBS were in a similar position at half-time in the first round v FCJ Bunclody so they knew what to do. Scores were needed badly but after 40 minutes it was 1-9 to 1-4 as both defences were excelling.
Darragh Carley was sweeping up in front of Chris Ryan and Carley was also providing at the other end as he lashed a free to the net (1-9 to 2-4). The Gorey students kept the scoreboard ticking over and their noses in front with point but CBS knew they needed goals to win the game. Goal number three arrived when Cian Doyle – now at full forward – cleverly flicked home (1-11 to 3-4.
As the clocked ticked towards 60 minutes, Darragh Carley’s free looked to be sneaking over the bar but the keeper pulled the ball down and it ended up in the net.
Gorey went all out for the goal which would win the match for them but the CBS rearguard held firm and celebrated a great victory as the final whistle went.

This was a spirited and entertaining game of hurling but not without two dollops of controversy. CBS were down four at HT (1-5 to 0-4) but pulled the game back level. Darragh Carley’s free seemed to have been parried by the keeper into the net. However, the referee judged that it was a ’65.
Minutes later Zach Breslin turned and ran at goal before kicking to the net – or what many thought was the net – before complaints from the home team resulted in a throw-in as the was judged not to have crossed the line.
Such margins were devastating for CBS as the two goals they conceded were very soft.
Eoin Hartigan started the scoring with a fine point after hard work by Tommy Gallagher but FCJ over for the rest of the opening quarter and led by 1-4 to 0-1.
Three converted Darragh Carey frees brought CBS back into it at 1-4 to 0-4 before Bunclody finished off the half with a pointed free of their own.
CBS got the perfect start to the new half when Zach Breslin gathered and turned his man before kicking to the net. It was tit-for-tat for the next 25 minutes as both sides fought bravely to secure the win.
Zach Breslin was fouled for a penalty and Darragh Carley’s shot made it to the net to leave the score at 2-7 to 1-8 in favour of Wexford CBS.
However, disaster struck for CBS when a long free went all the way to the net to shove FCJ back in front. Darragh Carley responded with a fine point from play but Bunclody replied and it was the home side who struck for three late points to earn the two league points on offer.
Best for CBS were Fionn O’Callaghan, Darragh Carley, Andrew Moran, Cian Doyle, Tadhg Brohan, Eoin Hartigan and Zach Breslin.

Historic Day
On Monday 19th February 2018 all pupils and staff moved into our new school. It is a large, bright and colourful building which will hopefully witness great education and achievement over its lifetime.

New Boker
Finally the day has been announced when we will move into our new school. Classes will take place from Monday 19th Feb. A historic day indeed. It certainly looks and feels impressive, here's to all the Bokerboys who get to come through the doors, this year and in the future.

First Year Tour To Poland
Forty First Year pupils and four teachers head to Poland this weekend for a tour of historical Krakow. During their stay they will visit Auschwitz Birkenau Concentration Camp, Kazimierz and The Schindler Factory Museum. Have a great trip.
International Waterpolo

Stock Traders
Well done to the 5th years boys who took part in Bond Trader Challenge event organised by Bank of Ireland, on 29/1 in Amber Springs hotel in Gorey.
The morning began with an overview of financial markets and trading. Student were presented with various economic scenarios and had to respond to real market scenarios, making decisions on how to manage their own bond portfolios.

Soccer success
Congratulatios to our First Year soccer team who defeated Carnew VS 2-1 in the Wexford / Wicklow League with 2 goals from Conor Mackey .
Hard luck to our Senior Soccer squad who bowed out to Pres. Bray on a 2-4 scoreline last week. This was the end of an era for a lot of this squad. Thank you for all our soccer contributions over your stay in school.
Aklso to our U.15 team who won the Wexford / Wicklow League with a 4-1 defeat of Colaiste Cill Mhantain. Goals were scored by Aaron Roche 2, Kyle Clancy and Darragh Carley. Well done lads. The medal collection continues to grow.

The senior hurler’s quest to reclaim this title – last won in 2013/14 – ended in a narrow defeat to Bridgetown VC. CBS were never in front and always chased this game but could have snatched it at the death when Adam Howlin’s 30 yard free was saved and cleared.
In truth CBS squandered too many chances whereas Bridgetown were more clinical in front of goal. However, the Bokerboys never gave up and were very dogged and with a bit of luck they could have won the match.
It was 0-5 to 0-2 after ten minutes and moments later Kyle Scallan levelled the game with a cool finish but Bridgetown dominated the midpoint of the half and struck for two quick goals to fire them into a 2-8 to 1-4 half-time advantage.
Richie Lawlor and Kyle Scallan were CBS main men in that half but it was obvious they would need help on the turnaround.
In truth CBS dominated the second half and yet won it by only 3-3 to 1-4. Too many scores were left behind.
Josh Shiel replaced Michael Laffan at the break after his lengthy break due to injury and made an immediate impact. He pointed a free before lashing the ball to the rook of the net for the first of CBS’s second half goals.
Adam Howlin drove a penalty to the net but crucially Bridgetown struck for a goal at the other end which kept the Bokerboys at arm’s length.

Senior Hurling
Congratulations to our Senior Hurling team who defeated Callan CBS in the South Leinster SH semi-final by 3-12 to 4-7. CBS will play Bridgetown VC in the final.
