Congratulation to Robin Dempsey who recently lined out for Ireland U.15's v Quatar and Belgium. He is a very talented soccer player following in the footsteps of his brother Gary, who likewise represented Ireland. We wish him many more caps in the future.
Ferns Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes
Best wishes to Fr. Brian Whelan and the four 5th year students, Chris Pender, Daniel Sinnott, Chris Jevens and James Cleary who leave for Lourdes in the early morning. It will be a great and worthwhile experience for them.

The first years played their second match in two days and picked up a well deserved victory over the Bridgetown juvenile team in Pairc Charman on Friday (May 13th) in a fourteen-a-side game.
This victory puts the school into the Flo-Gas final against Ramsgrange where CBS will hope to successfully defend their title. There was plenty of experimentation carried out as CBS fielded two vastly different teams in each half.
The first years were helped by some second years (Dylan Hynes, Stephen Cullen, Luke Lambert, John Leacy and Mark Kavanagh) in the second half, who it was felt by management, needed game-time.
Stephen Kearney registered the first score with a point before Bridgetown lashed in two goals through their burly full-forward. However CBS struck back with points from Jesse Farrell and Kearney.
Farrell struck for two goals around the first quarter – the first following a nice pass from Joe Redmond and the second was a fine solo effort. Kevin Harte followed up with a goal but Bridgetown struck back with some points to cut the deficit.
John Hamilton got two points before Aaron McGuire pounced on a ball that came back off the post from Joe Redmond and bashed it to the net.
This left the half-time score at CBS 4-5 to Bridgetown 2-4.
The rain came down in bucket loads in the new half as CBS’s new team got to grips with Bridgetown. Dylan Hynes scored 1-1 before neat goals from Conor Coleman and Liam Rockett increased the CBS lead.
Bridgetown’s full-forward plundered his third and fourth goals before Mark Kavanagh and Conor Coleman pointed. Stephen Cullen had the last say when he caught a high ball and lashed it to the net.

Leaving Cert Photo Shoot
As the Leaving Cert class of 2011 approach the end of their stay at Coláiste Eamonn Rís, the final photo shoot took place in the GP Room on Thursday last, here are a few photos taken as the were being prepared for that final shot of them all together. St. Peter’s came out on top in this entertaining challenge game played in Power Park (Thursday May 12th) by four points.CBS were behind at half-time on a score of 2-4 to 1-2 with Turk Kearney grabbing the goal in the 25th minute. Turk pointed a free early in the game and Liam Rockett also fired over a point.CBS brought on all eight subs at half-time and this didn’t alter the flow of the game. St. Peter’s added four points. CBS scorers were Rob Donnelly who sauntered up from centre-back for a point.Aaron McGuire gave Jesse Farrell a great return pass and Farrell lashed the ball home. Liam Rockett registered his second score in the 50thminute.

County Wexford Soccer Representatives
Well done to Eoin Doyle (U.12), Brendan Furlong, Alex Bergin, Darragh Rossiter and Tony Crosbie (U.13), Evan Dunbar, Dale Scallan and John Bridges (U.15), all represented County Wexford at a tournament in Barcelona over the Easter period. It was a wonderful experience for them to play against the top European clubs.

C.B.S. Has Talent May 11th
The annual talent show will be held in The Talbot Hotel on Wed. 11th May. An afternoon performance will be held for all the pupils in the school and a further performance will be staged at 7.30pm ttat evening. Tickets are €4 for students and €8 for adults. A great show is promised with a variety of acts to entertain all tastes.

This semi-final was a very tight encounter and when De La Salle got in behind the C.B.S. defence to score it put a lot of pressure on Wexford to up their game. Wonderful goals from Danny Fitzpatrick, Sean Pailing and Man Of The Match , Pierce Dooley ensured the Bokerboys headed for the final next week against Kilcoole.

Beijing 2011

We left the school early Sunday morning and headed for Dublin airport for our connecting flight at London Heathrow. Here we left for our nine hour flight, which to a lot of us seemed an eternity as we were all hit by the fact we were going on a once in a lifetime trip to Beijing and were unable to sleep. Upon arrival we were greeted by our interpreters for our week stay Maggie and Toni, who worked for the U.C.D Confucius Institute.

Upon arrival we were greeted by our interpreters for our week stay Maggie and Toni, who worked for the U.C.D Confucius Institute.
Over the next week we embraced Chinese culture, language, history and cuisine. On the first few days we went to classes in the morning to learn the basics of the Chinese language, a famous Chinese song and the ancient art of calligraphy. These classes were held on campus of St. Paul American School, which is where we were staying, and taught by laoshi Chang. During our stay we went on several trips to historical landmarks, including the Forbidden City, Tian’an Men Square, The Great Wall, Qianmen St., Temple of Heaven and Temple of Earth and the Summer Palace. We were guided around these landmarks by our tour guide Emma, who gave us on inside knowledge on them and answered any of our questions. We also enjoyed trips to an acrobatic show and the Olympic Stadium and its environs. After the trip we all concluded that walking the Juyongguan pass at the Great Wall was the highlight of the trip for us all, except for the teachers who seemed to enjoy the shopping aspect of the trip a lot more..
We would like to thank Ms. Spellman for her hard work in organising the trip, and also to thank the two other teachers, Ms. Henneberry and Ms. Dagg for giving up their time to come.

Our Senior rugby team came so very close to winning this title in Greystones on Thursday evening last. Unfortunately a late penalty, kicked from the half way line managed to edge the Meath team in front, after C.B.S. had led for the entire game. Huge disappointment after such a massive effort.
Wexford opened very well and used the strong wind to get deep into the opposition half, desperately trying to cross the line but the defence stood firm. C.B.S. took the lead with a penalty from Colm O'Corcora. He went on to add three more in the first half, giving Wexford a 12-6 advantage at the break.
Dunshaughlin responded with a further penalty to narrow the margin to 12-9, however the Bokerboys stayed in front. With three minutes left on the clock our line was breached but the missed conversion meant we stayed in front by a single point. However indiscipline at the ruck from the restart meant we conceded a penalty and the rest is history.
It was a fabulous game of rugby and all who travelled were extremly proud of our lads.

Rugby Champs
Congratulations to First Years, Conor Coleman and Callum Murphy, who were both members of the very successful Wexford Wanderers U.13 team, who won the Leinster League and Cup double recently. The also won an invitational tournament in U.L. Limerick against teams for all over Ireland. Well done lads.
