Bokerboys blitz Bridgetown

Bridgetown V.C 0 – 7 Wexford CBS
Wexford CBS continued their league campaign away to Birdgetown V.C. The boys began brightly and Eoin MacDonald gave the Bokerboys an early lead sliding home a cool curling low placed shot which left the keeper with no chance after a fine team move. Bridgetown responded well and forced Dylan Bolger into a couple of saves but in truth Wexford CBS upped the tempo and dominated possession creating numerous chances but to no avail as a determined Bridgetown outfit gave everything they had to keep the away side at bay. When the CBS did manage to get in behind the Birdgetown defence they found a keeper in excellent form who pulled off a number of quality saves from Shane McGrath and Jessie Farrell, the pick of which was a one handed effort to push away a well-placed Farrell header. Bridgetown could be pleased with their first half efforts as the half ended 1-0 to Wexford CBS.
The Bokerboys brought on returning stalwart Cian Doyle at half time and upped their tempo in a hunt for goals, which soon began to flow freely. Good work from Farrell and McGrath combined to play in Cian Doyle, Bridgetown’s right back intercepted the ball but pressure from Doyle forced him into knocking it over his own goal line for a 2-0 lead. The CBS simply blew their opponents away from this point on with Cian Doyle himself adding another 2 minutes later his pace left his marker for dead as he latched onto a fine ball from McGrath before coolly slotting home a neat finish into the left hand corner of the net. Next up was McGrath himself whose persistence and hard work won him possession inside the box before he finished making it 4-0. Darragh Rossiter added a 5th from the spot. Wexford rang the changes throughout the half and the subs were playing fantastic football Shaun Donoghue in particular causing problems for the home team from the right wing. Substitute Liam Rockett made it 6 with a stunning strike from the edge of the box finding the top corner of the net with a ferocious strike after receiving the ball. Another substitute Rob Donnelly completed the scoring in a short second half with a moment of tremendous individual skill, receiving the ball from a fantastic pass from Alex Bergin, flicking over one player before finishing with a well-placed effort to leave the score at 7-0 to the Bokerboys. Some irresistible football played in Bridgetown by the Bokerboys, the team has really found its rhythm now and will need to continue to produce such quality in tougher ties which will lie ahead.
