Footloose - The Musical

Some of the Footloose cast were touring the Primary and Secondary schools of Wexford on Friday last to promote their up coming musical. A huge amount of work has gone into this production by all concerned so we hope everyone will acknowledge this by attending their performances next week.

The CBS and the Presentation have joined forces to put on the popular musical 'Footloose', based on the award winning movie of the same name. Auditions were held last June and the students have been working hard since September to perfect their American accents. Gavin Byrne is playing the lead role of Ren, a slick city kid whos forced to relocate to a remote mid-western town, where all forms of dance (and having fun!) are banned. There he falls in love with local bad girl Ariel, played by Samantha Carr, but the course of true love never runs smoothly
The supporting cast includes, Niamh Doyle, Jack Robinson, Marty Mullally, Jessica Walker, Danny Fitzpatrick, Jessica Guiney, Luke Jackson, Laura Reck and Gabija Varnelyte who are accompanied by a full live band. The show is directed by Clodagh Cecil, choreographed by Lauren Byrne and musically directed by local singer Roisin Dempsey .The chorus mistress in CBS music teacher Niele Kavanagh.
The show runs from October 17th to 21st in the Presentation hall. The Monday night show starts at 7pm to facilitate younger students. The start time is 8pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Friday night's show is at 8.30 pm. Tickets are on sale from Saturday the 9th of October from Whites Music Store. The show is packed with a number of well known songs including the 80's hit 'I Need a Hero'. It's full of comedy and lively dance numbers and is suitable for all ages.
